We arrived at school at eight o’clock and our Swedish hosts showed us around their school.
Then, at nine o’clock we started each country’s presentations. The Swedish students started by talking about their country. Then they gave a funny presentation about how we should behave in Sweden (in many ways the opposite to the way we behave in Spain) and then we learned about Swedish history. We were next and we were really nervous but our presentation went quite well.
About ten o’clock they gave us “Fica”. This is kind of a sweet snack typical in Sweden. After this we kept on with the other presentations and at twelve we had lunch at the school.
Next we played some games to get to know each other. Furthermore, we had three different quizzes about the European Union. In addition, we had a scavenger hunt around the school.
We left school and we took the bus to a mall in Skovde. Some of us had a big sandwich and then we went to play laser tag. We had fun! At the end of the day we had dinner at home.
Today was a really busy day.

DAY 2 (16 nov.)
Today was the quietest day of the trip according to our host.
When we arrived at the high school we were waiting for the activity to start with the other exchange students from Belgium in a room with some sofas (we found it very curious that they have these kinds of “rest rooms” everywhere).
Then we listened to a two-hour talk about the Sami, a small group of people living in Lapland. Between the two hours of class we had a Fika.
The last activity in the school was lunch and later we went to the cinema to watch a movie related to the Sami, called “Sami blood.” The movie was about a girl who suffered discrimination for belonging to the Sami group and escapes from her school to start a new life.
When the movie finished, each of the exchange students made different plans with our host, for example, Belen and Irene went to the forest and Elena and Natalia baked cookies and muffins.
The day has ended early as tomorrow we are leaving for Stockholm. WE ARE VERY EXCITED!
DAY 3 (17 nov.)
On Wednesday we went to Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden.
We visited some museums and we had lunch at the army museum. We took a boat to go to the Vasa museum, where you can see the world’s best preserved 17th century ship and the most visited museum in Scandinavia. They recovered the ship after being on the sea bed for over 300 years.
Later, we went to the old part of town, where we spent our free time walking around the city. Then it was time to go back on the high speed train!
DAY 4 (18 nov.)
Today was a day dedicated to museums.
At nine o’clock we met near the Västergötlands Museum and we had a walk around some old houses, farms,…Then we visited the veterinarian museum where we watched a film about its foundation and had a guided tour. It was really interesting to see all the equipment of that time.
After that, we had lunch at the Västergötlands Museum and then we also had a guided tour there. We learned a lot about some archeological findings in Skara and its history. At 1 o’clock we had “fika”with all the other students and then we continued our visit.
When we finished our tour, we had free time in the afternoon with our hosts and we had a great time! Some of us went shopping and others visited a nearby town.
DAY 5 (19 nov.)
Today we arrived at school at 8:00 o’clock and we had to work on different padlets to share everything we had learned during the week. When we finished, we went to have lunch at school. After that, we went ice skating and it was really exciting! We went back to school to work on the final evaluation of the project. When we finished, we went bowling. It was so much fun! Then we went to a taco buffet and we loved it. To finish the day we went shopping to get some Swedish sweets to take to Spain for our families.
Del 25 al 29 del pasado mes de octubre, nuestro centro ha participado en un nuevo encuentro Erasmus+ correspondiente al proyecto Gamers4nature. El evento se ha celebrado en la ciudad portuguesa de Aveiro, ubicada en la costa entre Lisboa y Oporto, y hasta allí se desplazó un grupo de alumnos y alumnas de 1º de Bachillerato, acompañado por los profesores Mario Rodríguez López y Alejandro Cifuentes Ibáñez. El alumnado fue seleccionado tras la realización en el centro de una actividad similar a la que se desarrollaría después en Aveiro, acompañada de una entrevista y el análisis del área de Inglés de su expediente académico.
En este encuentro han participado delegaciones de otros países como Irlanda (Sancta Maria College), Portugal (Agrupamento de Escolas Emídio Garcia) y Hungría (Péter András Gimnázium és Kollégium). El objetivo del proyecto Gamers4nature es el desarrollo de juegos interactivos basados en alguna plataforma de amplia difusión, siendo Scratch el lenguaje de programación elegido por todos los grupos participantes que contaron con el asesoramiento y apoyo de la Unidad de Investigación DigiMedia de la Universidad de Aveiro. Para el desarrollo del juego se han llevado a cabo actividades de concienciación medioambiental en colaboración con el proyecto BioRia, dedicado a la conservación de la naturaleza y la biodiversidad en un enclave que ocupa más de 11.000 hectáreas a unos pocos minutos en tren desde Aveiro. En estas actividades, el alumnado ha tomado conciencia de la fragilidad del equilibrio de un ecosistema y ha podido conocer de primera mano las especies invasoras procedentes de otros entornos o países y que se han adaptado a este nuevo hábitat convirtiéndose en un serio problema.
Usando el inglés como medio de comunicación durante el desarrollo de todo el encuentro, el alumnado participante ha tenido acceso también a talleres formativos centrados en el diseño de personajes y videojuegos, información que han usado para crear un juego durante dos jornadas de trabajo. Por tanto, además de la componente social y lingüística de este tipo de encuentros, se suman las dimensiones creativa y digital que convierten estas experiencias en algo inolvidable, a la vez que productivas.
El proyecto Gamers4nature está coordinado por la Universidad de Aveiro y aúna gran parte de las líneas prioritarias de nuestro centro, como son la transformación digital de la educación, el aprendizaje de idiomas y la educación medioambiental. Como parte del desarrollo del mismo, el alumnado participante compartirá su experiencia al resto de sus compañeros y compañeras, de forma que en un futuro cercano se pueda llevar a cabo otro encuentro dentro del mismo proyecto, esta vez organizado por el IES Pedro Jiménez Montoya, en el que se presenten varios juegos desarrollados por los diferentes centros participantes.
Un año más el IES Pedro Jiménez Montoya ha arrancado con actividades vinculadas a los planes y programas de Educación propuestos por la Junta de Andalucía. Este año, en Vivir y Sentir el Patrimonio, celebramos el 50 aniversario del Descubrimiento de la dama Íbera de Baza.
Así de bonito lo han reflejado nuestros alumnos del Aula Específica.
Nuestro centro ha recibido el 5º premio de Andalucía por su participación en el concurso de Buenas Prácticas en Patrimonio Cultural convocado por el Instituto Andaluz de Patrimonio Histórico. El galardón tiene como objetivo reconocer las mejores prácticas docentes realizadas en el marco del Programa Vivir y Sentir el Patrimonio así cómo avalar la innovación didáctica en Patrimonio Cultural y destacar las experiencias más significativas encaminadas a favorecer entre nuestro alumnado el disfrute, conocimiento y comprensión de los valores históricos, artísticos, etnográficos, científicos y técnicos de los bienes culturales de Andalucía.
El trabajo presentado recoge las experiencias realizadas y recogidas por la coordinadora del plan, Laura Gallego Cañabate, profesora del centro, y muestra algunos ejemplos del trabajo que desde el IES se lleva a cabo con el alumnado en los cursos 2016/17 y 17/18. Éste es un ejemplo más del compromiso del IES Pedro Jiménez Montoya con nuestra localidad y con la educación en todas las escalas.
Coincidiendo con la conmemoración del día del ajedrez y la celebración del Campeonato del mundo, se ha organizado en el IES Pedro Jiménez Montoya una exposición sobre las grandes figuras del ajedrez, entre las que ha ocupado un lugar destacado José Raúl Capablanca, campeón mundial de 1921 a 1927, y considerado por muchos el “Mozart del ajedrez. Precisamente esta fecha del 19 de Noviembre como día del ajedrez fue instaurada en 1988 por la Federación Internacional de Ajedrez (FIDE) en homenaje a este famoso ajedrecista hispano-cubano, justo cuando se cumplían 100 años de su nacimiento en La Habana, Cuba. En la exposición también han ocupado un lugar central el actual campeón Magnus Carlsen y el aspirante Fabiano Caruana, además de las jugadoras You Hifan y Judit Polgar.
Con esta actuación, promovida por los responsables del programa AuladJaque, nuestro centro se ha querido sumar al llamamiento de la Dirección General de Innovación y Formación del Profesorado, quien ha animado a recordar la importancia del Ajedrez en el ámbito educativo durante esta semana del 19 al 23 de noviembre.
Para concluir, sólo indicar que el programa de actividades durante esta semana ha incluido el seguimiento del Campeonato del Mundo y la apertura de la biblioteca como espacio para la práctica de este deporte por parte de alumnado y profesorado. Con esta y otras iniciativas se se pretende potenciar el interés por esta práctica deportiva y contribuir así al desarrollo del sentido de la creatividad, la intuición, la memoria y las competencias, tanto analíticas como de toma de decisiones de nuestro alumnado.
